Fascination

The standards of beauty, requirements, and impossible expectations placed on women regarding their outward appearances are among the prominent factors that lead to addiction to cosmetic surgeries, influenced by social and cultural pressures. The work addresses cosmetic surgeries that alter the body, expressed through the pursuit of geometric perfection. Using masks and sewing techniques, I aim to express the feeling of alienation between the individual and their body in our current age. The addiction to cosmetic surgery has led us, as individuals, to reject our true bodies. The project seeks to raise awareness about body acceptance and self-love. Materials: Plastic thread, copper thread, copper rod, crystal beads, plastic beads. Techniques: Sewing, knitting, lacing. Photography: Rawan Julani
